MIRACOLI—Francia Germania pannelli 02/11/08 10 : 34 Page 15 Da più di 900 anni è possibile venerare la reliquia di una porzione del Preziosissimo Sangue di Gesù presso il Monastero Benedettino di Weingarten. Secondo molti storici, il soldato Longino avrebbe portato la reliquia del Preziosissimo Sangue di Cristo a Mantova, Successivamente il Preziosissimo Sangue fu diviso in più parti e donato a vari sovrani dell'epoca, i più famoso fu Carlo Magno, e presso diversi papi, la reliquia del Preziosissimo Sangue arrivò anche a Weingarten. Secondo un antico documento, nell'anno 1055, parte della Preziosa Reliquia venne donata all'imperatore Enrico III dei Franchi. Successivamente Enrico lasciò il Preziosissimo Sangue in eredità al Conte Baldovino di Fiandra, il quale a sua volta donò la Sacra Reliquia a sua figlia Giuditta.
cercò Giuditta come sposa, e gli donò la Preziosa Reliquia, che egli stesso donò poi ai Benedettini di Weingarten, diretti in quel tempo dall'Abate Wilichon. La solenne cerimonia ebbe luogo il 4 marzo 1094. Per questo motivo l'Abbazia benedettina ricevette numerose indulgenze da diversi papi, tanto che questa chiesa divenne un centro religioso di straordinaria importanza.
